Pokemon Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon
The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new benchmark for the longest Pokémon TCG card unboxing livestream. This record-breaking event, held on November 26, 2024, celebrated the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
The 24-hour marathon featured popular online personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, who collectively opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products. The impressive final tally? Over 20,000 Pokémon TCG cards! This feat was confirmed by the Pokémon Company's official press release.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement about the achievement, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The event wasn't just about breaking records; the collected cards will be donated to charities, including Barnardo's in the UK, before the holidays. Furthermore, the Pokémon Company promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks.
Celebrating Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks
Released on November 8, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.
Fans can also find iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, along with Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. The expansion also features Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards showcasing Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas in tranquil ocean settings. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add further excitement to the gameplay.
The Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
