Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 developers, has unveiled their ambitious new project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not aiming for a full-scale AAA title, the team's aspirations are high.
Studio founder Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz stated their goal is to achieve Witcher 3-level quality, albeit on a smaller scale:
“We aim for AAA quality, mirroring The Witcher 3—it's our legacy. However, as a small studio on our first project, we're crafting something more concise but equally refined.”
The anticipated playtime is estimated at 30-40 hours:
“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, designed for 100+ hours but often exceeding 200-300, is ambitious. But does size define a AAA game? Call of Duty is AAA without an extensive campaign. So, does scale truly matter?”
Tomaszkiewicz further dismissed industry classifications like "AAA" and "AAAA" as irrelevant.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, an action RPG, follows a half-vampire racing against a 30-day, 30-night deadline to rescue his loved ones. Despite the time constraint, the developers promise a seamless gameplay experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it's slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with the launch date yet to be announced.
