Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the upcoming kart racer from Sega and Sonic Team, promises the biggest roster yet, boasting iconic characters from both the Sonic and Sega universes. A recent PlayStation.blog post detailed exciting new features and mechanics, offering a glimpse into what awaits players in the upcoming closed network test.
An Unprecedented Roster:
While the full roster remains under wraps, the game is confirmed to launch with at least 23 characters, with more to come. The revealed lineup includes fan favorites like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, alongside characters from Sonic Riders (Jet, Wave, Storm), the Deadly Six (Zavok, Zazz), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, E-123 Omega), the Chaotix (Vector, Charmy, Espio), and even Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big. Dr. Eggman and his creations, Egg Pawn and Metal Sonic, round out this impressive cast.
CrossWorlds: Dynamic Racing Across Dimensions:
Prepare for a revolutionary racing experience! Travel Rings will transport racers between different CrossWorlds in real-time, dramatically altering the race landscape. Each CrossWorld offers a unique theme park-style environment, complete with surprising obstacles, colossal monsters, and breathtaking scenery. Expect dynamic tracks inspired by Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, with track transformations occurring throughout each lap, demanding adaptability and strategic racing. The game features 24 main tracks and 15 distinct CrossWorlds.
Customization, Extreme Gear, and Gadgets:
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers the most extensive vehicle customization yet. Players can modify their vehicles extensively, tweaking front and rear parts, wheels, colors, tire designs, cockpits, and even the vehicle's glow. Furthermore, 23 unique gadgets offer strategic advantages, allowing players to tailor their racing style. The return of Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders adds another layer of excitement, with hoverboard-based racing providing a thrilling boost-oriented gameplay experience. A total of 45 unique original vehicles will be available.
