EA's upcoming Star Wars turn-based tactics game is set to make its grand reveal at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This highly anticipated title, developed by Bit Reactor—a studio filled with veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the XCOM series—has been in the works since its announcement in early 2022. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Star Wars Jedi developer Respawn Entertainment on this project, and they are now ready to unveil their creation to the world.
The first glimpse of the game will be showcased during a live panel on April 19, featuring the lead development team from Bit Reactor, along with representatives from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. This exciting reveal is part of the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.
What to Expect from the Star Wars Strategy Game?
While details about the game remain scarce, including the specific Star Wars era in which it is set and the precise mechanics of its gameplay, it's safe to infer that it will draw inspiration from the tactical gameplay of XCOM, infused with the rich universe of Star Wars. Given the pedigree of its developers, fans can look forward to a strategic experience that combines the depth of turn-based tactics with the iconic elements of the Star Wars franchise.
Respawn Entertainment, apart from their involvement in this project, is also diligently working on the third installment of their acclaimed Star Wars Jedi trilogy. However, there's no indication that this game will be featured at Star Wars Celebration this year. It's worth noting that Respawn had been developing another Star Wars game, an untitled first-person shooter rumored to star a Mandalorian protagonist, but it was canceled amidst a significant restructuring at EA, which resulted in approximately 670 job losses. Earlier in March, Respawn also quietly canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project, affecting an undisclosed number of employees.
At Star Wars Celebration, fans can also look forward to sneak peeks of other exciting projects. Lucasfilm will offer a glimpse into The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, slated for release in May 2026, and a first look at Star Wars: Visions Volume 3.
