Hearthstone's massive Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, boasting a record-breaking 49 new cards, launches January 21st. This expansion, revealed initially at the November 13th, 2024 Warcraft Direct, bridges the gap between Hearthstone and StarCraft, introducing class and multi-class cards themed around the iconic StarCraft factions: Zerg, Protoss, and Terran.
The Mini-Set's card distribution is impressive: three cards per Hearthstone class, five faction-specific cards per StarCraft race (including one Legendary per race), and a single neutral Legendary card, Grunty. Zerg cards, playable by Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize swarming Zerglings and Hydralisk damage scaling. Protoss cards (Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue) focus on mana manipulation to deploy powerful cards like the Carrier. Terran cards for Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior leverage the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond, introducing new Starship Pieces and strategies.
This expansive Mini-Set comes at a premium. A full collection costs $20 (or 2500 gold), a $5 increase over previous Mini-Sets. The all-Golden version is priced at $80 (12,000 gold). However, individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) are available for $10 (1200 gold).
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streamed events:
- StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards.
- HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST): Hearthstone community creators battle it out, representing each StarCraft faction.
Viewers of these Twitch streams will receive two standard and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs. Don't miss the chance to earn free cards!
