This year's TennoCon delivered some incredible news, highlighted by the upcoming Warframe: 1999 update. Get ready for a wild ride through a retro-futuristic 1999, battling a Y2K tech-virus in the neon-drenched city of Höllvania!
First up, a prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," launching in August 2024. This quest reunites us with a beloved Warframe character and sets the stage for the main 1999 event, also introducing Sevatgoth Prime and their weapons. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" is a prerequisite for playing Warframe: 1999, slated for release in Winter 2024.
Warframe: 1999 plunges players into an alternate 1999 where a deadly Y2K virus threatens all. Explore Höllvania, a vibrant 90s city corrupted by Techrot, using the new Atomicyles – high-speed vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even explosive maneuvers! Lead the charge as one of the Hex, a team of six heroes piloting Protoframes – Warframes showcasing the human pilots within.
Meet the team: Arthur (Excalibur), Aoi (Mag), Quincy (CYTE-09), and more, voiced by an all-star cast including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Connect with them in true 1999 style – via instant messaging!
Prepare for a showdown against On-lyne, a 90s boy band turned enemy, led by the villainous Zeke (voiced by Nick Apostolides). Their infectious tunes are available now on all major streaming platforms!
Fashion is key! Warframe: 1999 upgrades the fashion system with dual loadouts and the introduction of Gemini Skins. Bring the Protoframes, like Arthur and Aoi, into the Origin System with these skins, complete with fully voiced dialogue!
Beyond the main event, Digital Extremes is partnering with THE LINE to create an anime short based on Warframe: 1999, launching later this year. Plus, new Heirloom skins are available now for Ember, with a Rhino skin coming in early 2025.
