"Tribe Nine Cancelled Just Three Months Post-Launch"

Author : Lillian May 18,2025

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be shuttered. According to a recent news post, the servers will be shut off on November 27th, with any upcoming updates now cancelled. This marks a bitter end for Tribe Nine, which just a few months ago celebrated over ten million downloads. The game, inspired by the anime series of the same name and featuring art by Danganronpa veteran Rui Komatsuzaki, offered regular ARPG gameplay alongside the unique Xtreme Baseball boss battles that fans of the series will recognize.

The abrupt cancellation of Tribe Nine adds to a troubling trend over the last few years, where many games have been discontinued less than a year after launch. For fans, this can make it disheartening to invest in new releases, given the ever-present threat of an End of Service (EOS) announcement.

Considering that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has been well-received in other projects like Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on different platforms, it's puzzling why Tribe Nine faced such an early cancellation. This decision could potentially backfire on developer Akatsuki Games.

With another anime-based title, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, Akatsuki Games is likely hoping to attract fans of the existing series. However, casual players might be wary of investing in another game from Akatsuki, given their recent track record. For fans of Tribe Nine, this news certainly doesn't make for a happy Friday.
