Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting offers quick movement, traversing large battlefields to aid officers often necessitates faster travel.

How To Obtain Your First Steed in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
A complimentary horse awaits in Chapter 1. Speak to a merchant encountered in the overworld after completing "Test Of Zheng Fei," the second major battle. He's located northeast of Wan Castle, before reaching the camp, standing beside his horse. He'll gift you the mount upon interaction, automatically equipping it.
Summon your horse by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).
Leveling Up Your Mount in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your equipped horse gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions, even without active use. XP is awarded for missions and main story battles, excluding skirmishes. Missions are indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon. XP gain is influenced by battle duration and your horse's usage, including charging into enemies. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs at intervals, varying per mount.
Switching Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your first horse is automatically equipped, but additional mounts are obtainable. Manage your steeds via the Battle Preparation menu's final option (left side of the screen). Each horse possesses unique advantages; some are inherently faster and superior. Maximize a region's peace level to receive a new horse as a reward at a nearby waypoint.
