When it comes to mecha, Japan stands head and shoulders above the rest as pioneers of the genre. They boast two key iterations of it: real robot and super robot. Now, My.Games' War Robots is set to team up with veteran designer Kunio Okawara for an exclusive in-game design that promises to excite fans of the genre!
Okawara's work is perhaps most recognizable for his creation of the titular, iconic Gundam, in collaboration with writer Yoshiyuki Tomino. This instantly recognizable mascot of the real robot genre has appeared in dozens of series over the years, and even in hit Hollywood films such as Ready Player One.
Soon, you'll have the chance to pilot an original creation from Kunio Okawara himself: the SWORD Unit 190, developed in-universe by the DSC Corporation. Okawara has also provided designs for the optional drones and plasma guns that you can equip it with, ensuring a fully immersive experience.
You'll need to wait a little bit before getting your hands on the new SWORD unit. However, it's set to take a starring role in the upcoming MECHA Raider S.W.O.R.D event, taking place from May 20th to June 1st. This event offers a full throwback nod to the real robot genre, making it a must-attend for fans.
