World of Warcraft China is introducing two new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts are re-interpretations of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, previously only obtainable through exceptionally difficult in-game challenges. While currently exclusive to the Chinese region, their arrival marks another exciting development following the renewed partnership between NetEase and Blizzard. This partnership, re-established last year, brought popular titles like World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to the Chinese market, leading to celebrations including a Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the introduction of the unique Xiao Liu pet.
These new mounts, available from January 15th, are offered through separate promotions. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, visually similar to its predecessor but adorned with auspicious clouds (xiangyun) during flight, symbolizes peace, immortality, and good fortune in Chinese culture. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a gilded version of the original, boasts a stylish black saddle and evocative flavor text referencing Kael'thas Sunstrider's iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotional Mounts:
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is obtained through a "Treasure Workshop" event, details of which remain scarce. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, however, is acquired from Landro's Loot Box, a ¥200 (approximately $27 USD) crate containing one of eight items. Other potential rewards include the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the extremely rare Swift Spectral Tiger from the discontinued World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. Team-based purchasing offers bonus crates upon reaching spending milestones.
Currently, there's no indication of an international release for these mounts. For now, players outside China can only admire these visually impressive additions to the World of Warcraft collection.
