World of Warcraft Patch 11.1: Renzik's Death Sparks Undermine Revolution
Spoiler Warning: This article contains significant spoilers for World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, Undermined.
Patch 11.1 delivers a shocking twist: the death of Renzik "The Shiv." This long-standing Goblin Rogue, a familiar face to many players since the game's launch, falls victim to Gallywix's assassination attempt targeting Gazlowe. This pivotal moment ignites a rebellion in Undermine.
The Public Test Realm (PTR) gave players an early look at Patch 11.1's content, including the Undermine storyline. The campaign unfolds with Gazlowe, leader of the Bilgewater Cartel, and Renzik, SI:7's second-in-command, working together to thwart Gallywix and secure the Dark Heart. Renzik's death, a bullet intended for Gazlowe, serves as a catalyst for the ensuing events. Wowhead lore analyst Portergauge documented this on Twitter.
Renzik's Legacy: A Martyr's Call to Arms
While not a central WoW character, Renzik holds a special place in many players' hearts, particularly Alliance Rogues. As one of the original Rogue trainers in Stormwind, his presence spanned two decades of the game's history, predating playable Goblins.
His sacrifice, however, is far from meaningless. Renzik's death fuels Gazlowe's resolve to overthrow Gallywix. This leads to the "Liberation of Undermine" raid, a direct consequence of Gallywix's failed assassination attempt.
Gallywix's Fate: A Final Showdown?
The final boss of the Liberation of Undermine raid is Gallywix himself. Given the low survival rate of final raid bosses in WoW, Gallywix's chances of surviving the encounter are slim. The patch's release will determine whether he meets his end alongside Renzik. The possibility of another iconic Goblin's demise hangs heavy in the air.
