Path of Exile 1 Update Delayed Due to Path of Exile 2 Issues
Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has apologized for delaying Path of Exile 1's 3.26 update, originally slated for late October 2024, then mid-February 2025. The delay is attributed to the need to address significant issues with the recently released Path of Exile 2.
GGG had previously committed to continued support for Path of Exile 1, even after the launch of its sequel. However, the entire Path of Exile 1 development team was reassigned to assist with Path of Exile 2's endgame development before its December 2024 launch. While initially believing they could return to Path of Exile 1's 3.26 update in time for its February release, the unforeseen magnitude of Path of Exile 2's launch problems proved this impossible.
In a video message, game director Jonathan Rogers acknowledged the studio's miscalculation, stating they were "fooling ourselves" regarding the timeline. Path of Exile 2 experienced both delays and post-launch issues requiring immediate attention, making it impractical to divert resources back to Path of Exile 1.
Rogers expressed regret for the situation, admitting the studio should have foreseen the consequences of reassigning the Path of Exile 1 team. He emphasized that GGG is learning how to manage two large-scale games concurrently and is developing a plan to address the outstanding issues with the 3.26 update. Currently, there is no confirmed release date for this update.
Path of Exile 2, launched on December 6th, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, achieved remarkable success, becoming one of Steam's most-played games.

Despite the setback, GGG remains committed to both titles, with the Path of Exile 1 team focused on resolving Path of Exile 2's ongoing issues until at least version 0.2.0 is released and likely for a couple of weeks beyond. Numerous guides are available to assist players with Path of Exile 2, covering class selection, builds (such as Mercenary and Sorceress), Spirit acquisition, trading, and ascension.
