Assassin's Creed Shadows Stream Leak Before Launch

Author : Mila Nov 01,2025

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has surfaced online prematurely, with unauthorized streams appearing a month ahead of its scheduled launch.

As reported by the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, since-deleted social media posts showcased images and footage from an individual who allegedly purchased the game through unofficial channels. TheGamer also verified that Shadow appeared briefly on a U.S. auction site before being taken down, with sellers offering multiple copies at $100 each.

Multiple Twitch streams featuring gameplay have emerged but are being promptly removed, according to VGC. The official release remains set for March 20, 2025. IGN has reached out to Ubisoft for an official statement.

This leak compounds Ubisoft's ongoing challenges with Assassin’s Creed Shadows since its announcement. Despite developmental hurdles, Ubisoft recently affirmed strong preorder numbers, comparing favorably to Assassin's Creed Odyssey's performance.

The publisher's latest financial report emphasized: "Preorder momentum mirrors that of Odyssey, the franchise's second-most successful installment."

CEO Yves Guillemot reinforced this optimism, stating: "Early feedback highlights the compelling narrative and immersive dual-protagonist system, with both characters offering distinct yet complementary gameplay experiences."

"Our development team continues working relentlessly to deliver Shadows as the most ambitious series entry to date," he added.

Initially slated for November, Shadows faced two delays—first to Valentine's Day, then to its current March 20 launch window.

The game carries significant weight as both the franchise's first Japan-set entry since fan demand began and Ubisoft's first mainline release since 2020. Its commercial success is crucial following recent setbacks and shareholder concerns.

Marketing efforts have encountered multiple controversies, including cultural representation missteps, unauthorized use of historical imagery, and recalled merchandise due to design sensitivity.
