After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several CD Projekt RED veterans, including the team behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, chose to pursue independent ventures.
Recently unveiled, The Blood of Dawnwalker is the brainchild of Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, in explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted several key factors:
The desire to pursue different creative avenues with trusted friends led to the formation of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their history fueled a desire to innovate and expand upon established RPG conventions. They developed bold, unconventional ideas, but recognized that implementing such novel concepts within the constraints of a large corporation would be challenging, especially with new intellectual property. The need for greater creative freedom and the ability to take risks with innovative solutions ultimately led to the creation of their own studio.
Rebel Wolves fosters a collaborative environment, prioritizing strong interpersonal relationships and open communication. Tomaszkiewicz believes this small team dynamic allows for greater efficiency and creative synergy, facilitating the easier discussion and refinement of their vision. This close-knit structure enables a more intense creative process, fostering innovation and the realization of unique ideas.
