How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
The Hermit quest unlocks automatically as you progress through blacksmith Radovan's quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After retrieving the lost cart, return to Radovan. He'll then request a custom-forged sword as a wedding gift, initiating the Hermit questline. Before confronting the hermit, you'll need to gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.
Get Information About the Hermit
First, visit the Troskowitz tavern and speak with Innkeeper Betty, exhausting all dialogue options. Afterwards, talk to other villagers—the alehouse maid and general trader are good starting points—to gather more information.
Talk to Gerda and Stanislav
Next, speak with Gerda in Troskowitz; she witnessed a relevant event. You can either pay her a small amount of Groschen or attempt a dialogue check to obtain the information.
Then, travel to Apollonia and speak with Stanislav. Again, either pay him or succeed at a dialogue check to get his account of events.
Gather Evidence
With the information gathered, it's time to find physical evidence. Locate the cross Gerda mentioned and dig up the grave (you'll need a spade; buy one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in a cemetery). You'll uncover Groschen and documents related to the Knights of the Cross.
Examine the documents, then proceed to the quest marker in Apollonia. You'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse; examine the horse for your next clue. You're now ready to confront the hermit.
Talk to the Hermit
Head to the hermit's hut. If you haven't gathered evidence, he won't be cooperative. Once you have the necessary information, he'll be more forthcoming.
Choose the following dialogue options: "You're suspicious," then exhaust all dialogue options regarding the clues and evidence. Finally, select "Out with it!" The hermit will reveal his true identity as Konrad. Before giving up the sword, he requests you speak with a widow named Margaret and deliver a cross to her.
Go to the cemetery near Apollonia, speak with Margaret, and give her the cross. This starts the Sinful Soul quest, which you can optionally complete by helping her bury Ambrose. You can return to Konrad immediately if you prefer.
Help Konrad or Kill Him
Approaching the hermit's hut again, you'll find Crusaders. You can choose to help the Crusaders kill Konrad or help Konrad escape.
Sneak to the hut; Konrad will agree to talk. Tell him you completed the quest and ask about the sword. You can then choose to help or kill him. Killing Konrad is often easier than fighting the Crusaders. After killing him, speak to the Crusaders and offer to return the documents for Groschen.
Get the Hermit’s Sword
Finally, north of the hut, find two tangled oak trees. The hermit's sword is stuck in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
