Embracer has celebrated the phenomenal success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, proudly announcing that the game is approaching the 2 million sales mark. Just a day after its launch, the sequel to Warhorse Studios' medieval Europe action role-playing game sold an impressive 1 million copies, and within 10 days, it nearly doubled that figure.
The game, which hit the shelves on February 4 and is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, has been particularly successful on Steam. It achieved over 250,000 peak concurrent players, significantly surpassing the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance's peak of 96,069 players from seven years ago. It's important to note that the total peak concurrent player count across all platforms is likely even higher, though console player numbers remain undisclosed by Sony and Microsoft.
Embracer, the parent company of Warhorse Studios through its subsidiary Plaion, has lauded the game's initial success, highlighting not only its strong player and critic reception but also its robust sales performance. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors expressed his pride in the teams at Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, emphasizing the game's quality, immersion, and appeal. He also mentioned a robust roadmap for the next 12 months, promising updates and new content to keep the community engaged.
Looking ahead, Embracer has Killing Floor 3 slated for release later this quarter (January to March 2025). The company boasts over 5,000 game developers working on upcoming titles, with plans to release 10 triple-A games over the next three financial years. These include eight games from internal studios and two from external ones. In the financial year 2025/26 alone, Embracer has scheduled two triple-A games for release towards the year's end, alongside several mid-size releases such as Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, with more mid-sized titles yet to be announced.
Despite recent challenges, including layoffs and studio sales such as Gearbox and Saber Interactive, Embracer continues to own Metro developer 4A Games, which is currently working on a new game in the series.
