Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, leaving fans wishing for its extended presence in the game. However, community manager pezradar has dashed these hopes, stating that the event is hard-coded into the game, making server-side extensions impossible. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar explained.
Additionally, pezradar addressed the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light, which disrupted the weekend plans of many players. He apologized for the inconvenience, noting that the team received late notice and needed to adjust the schedule. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January," he said. The extra time will be used to implement and test new code, ensuring a seamless transfer of player progress. Pezradar also acknowledged the need for improved communication with players in the future.
In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a new free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing began on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a blend of "the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," drawing inspiration from Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a devastated world.
