Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Ghostly Reconnaissance

In Phasmophobia, tackling the most elusive specters often requires employing risky yet rewarding Cursed Possessions. The Haunted Mirror stands out as a particularly useful, albeit somewhat hazardous, tool. This guide will detail its functionality and safe usage.

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror is arguably the safest Cursed Object in Phasmophobia, offering significant advantages that outweigh the risks. Its function remains consistent across game updates, making its use highly recommended if encountered during an investigation.

Its primary benefit is revealing the ghost's current favored room. A panoramic view of this room is displayed in the mirror's reflection, enabling quicker ghost location and equipment setup, thus mitigating potential dangers.

The Haunted Mirror typically appears either hanging on a wall (as seen in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or lying on the floor in a predetermined location. Remember, Cursed Objects always spawn in the same spot on a map; the randomness lies in which object spawns.

To activate the Haunted Mirror, pick it up and use the designated interaction button (mouse or controller) to hold it aloft. The ghost's favored room will then be visible in the reflection. On Professional difficulty or higher, be mindful that the ghost's location may shift after a time.

However, prolonged gazing into the Haunted Mirror depletes sanity. Holding it for the entire duration will shatter the mirror, triggering a Cursed Hunt at your precise location. Therefore, utilize it with high sanity levels and a clear understanding of the reflected view.

Cursed Possessions, informally known as "Cursed Objects," are unique items randomly appearing on any map (though this can be influenced by difficulty or Challenge Mode).

Unlike standard equipment, which safely aids in ghost location and evidence gathering, Cursed Objects offer strategic advantages at a considerable risk to your character.

The risk levels vary among Cursed Objects, leaving the decision of whether to use them to your discretion. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them. Note that only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist in the game:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
