After a long wait and two delayed launches, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. This guide provides crucial early-game advice to streamline your adventure.

Avoid Unprovoked PvP
Screenshot by The EscapistWhile Rune Slayer features full-loot PvP, it's not as brutal as it sounds. Death doesn't result in item loss. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. The higher your bounty, the more loot you drop upon death. Therefore, avoid attacking unless you have a compelling reason or a strong party backing you up.
Craft Bags Immediately
Screenshot by The EscapistInventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, you can craft bags. The Cotton Bag, providing 10 extra slots, is your priority. Gather Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of stronger mobs in the south). Craft these bags ASAP.
Pet Deaths are Temporary

After a pet's health reaches zero, it has a 5-minute cooldown before it can be resummoned (check this cooldown using the 'T' key). To quickly heal your pet, store and retrieve it at the stable master (you have one free slot).
Accept Every Quest
Screenshot by The EscapistRune Slayer boasts a plethora of quests, mostly simple "kill X" tasks. To simplify things, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, multiple quests can be completed simultaneously.
Craft Everything (At Least Once)
Screenshot by The EscapistCraft items you need, but also experiment with crafting anything you can with spare materials. Initial crafting often unlocks new and better crafting recipes. For example, crafting Iron Ore may unlock new Iron Armor recipes.
Join a Guild
While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group effort. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find groups for challenging encounters. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild.
