Fans of the highly anticipated single-player action game Lost Soul Aside will need to wait a bit longer, as developer Ultizero Games has announced a three-month delay, pushing the release from May 30 to August 29, 2025. After nearly a decade in development, the game was slated for a launch next month, but the team has decided to take additional time to ensure the game meets their high standards of quality.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally the brainchild of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a major title under Sony's China Hero Project. Bing, now the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen his passion project grow from a solo endeavor to a widely anticipated release. IGN recently had the chance to delve into the game's long development journey with Yang Bing, highlighting how the game escalated from a solo creator's vision to a prominent feature in Sony's State of Play broadcast. The buzz around Lost Soul Aside has been palpable, with many praising its blend of Final Fantasy-esque characters and Devil May Cry-style combat, a sentiment that started building when Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.
The protagonist, Kesar, wields a versatile shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch playstyles on the fly. Accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to aid Kesar, the game promises a dynamic combat system. Lost Soul Aside draws inspiration from its predecessors, emphasizing aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, all while featuring epic boss battles. The game's narrative takes players across multiple dimensions, blending sci-fi themes with contemporary aesthetics. Although the story's full arc remains somewhat mysterious based on trailers, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
